The Simpsons will try out an extended, hour-long format (really 44 minutes if you take out the ads) in its 28th season, which is set to premiere on September 25th. Empire's Taraji P. Henson and Key and Peele's Keegan-Michael Key will guest-star.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Matt Selman said, "This was just going to be a regular episode, but the table read went so well, in a fit of passion and excitement and ambition and excess, we decided to supersize it."
The hour-long episode, "The Great Phatsby," will air in January.
