NReboot Throws 90s Kids Party
Posted by Billy on Nov 13th 2015 at 11:04 am
There’s a non-stop party going on over at NReboot.com, and everyone’s invited. It’s a time-machine that takes you back to your childhood, without the slightest risk of going back too far and ending up in the Old West or the Jurassic Era.
You can see their complete programming list on Pastebin, but top shows include Rugrats, Doug, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Spongebob Squarepants.
In between episodes, the stream plays ads that are pulled straight from the 90s Nick airwaves. You’ll get to hear familiar pitches for products such as Legos, Blockbuster Video rentals, Nickelodeon Magazine, Reese’s Puffs cereal, and that eight-piece Inspector Gadget toy set at McDonald’s. After a few weeks on the site, these bumpers become an integral part of the NReboot experience, keeping your feet firmly planted on hallowed 90s ground.
The conversation in the in-browser (or IRC – however you like it) chat changes rapidly based on whatever is streaming at the moment, and every single show has its own dedicated fan-base – even Fifteen, which is sort of like Dawson’s Creek with Ed Wood-style acting. When game shows come on, the chat tends to explode with activity: Figure It Out elicits pleas of “no spoilers†from users who want to “figure it out†for themselves, and each of the six teams on Legends has its own base of rabid supporters.
At NReboot, your childhood need not exist only in your memory, and if you’re worried about the legality of the whole thing, don’t – it is all above-board, profit-free, and volunteer-driven. The whole thing is covered by section 107 of the Copyright Law (“fair useâ€), which you can read for yourself here on Copyright.gov.
If you’re going to watch anything that Nick aired during the 90s (or late 80s/early 2000s), there is no better way to do so than signing onto NReboot. You’ll laugh, you’ll meet some cool people, and you’ll feel like you’re back in a time before an Internet connection was a reasonable alternative to a cable package. Check it out: NReboot.com.
