Quentin Tarantino, a longtime public Trekkie who even went so far as to quote an "old Klingon proverb" - "Revenge is a dish best served cold" -
in Kill Bill Vol. 1, is developing a new Star Trek movie pitch with J.J. Abrams, who directed 2009's Star Trek and its 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. Abrams would write and produce, and Tarantino would write and direct.
Having directed eight movies to date, Tarantino has said repeatedly that he plans on helming only two more, bringing his filmography total to ten. It is unclear if the Star Trek project would be included in this count.
In the following September 2017 interview, Tarantino talks about being a fan of William Shatner and what he would do with the franchise.
