The X-Files, now one-third of the way through its revival order, premiered after the NFC Championship this past Sunday with very strong ratings. One estimate put the viewership number at around 13.5-million.
While impressive, this number falls far short of the most highly rated X-Files episode of all-time, “Leonard Betts,†which aired in 1997. More telling than the ratings for the premiere, however, will be the ratings for the second episode, the first of the six to air in the regular timeslot: Monday at 8:00 PM.
Mulder and Scully are back again next week in “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster,†written and directed by Darin Morgan, who won an Emmy for the fourth-season episode “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose.â€
