Philip K Dick died on March 2, 1982, and less than three months later, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner premiered, kicking off decades of Dick-inspired adventures on the big screen. Screamers, Minority Report, Impostor, Paycheck, A Scanner Darkly, Next, The Adjustment Bureau, and both versions of Total Recall: they all started in the same mind.
Now, a piece of the late Mr Dick’s legacy will be translated into a series, as Amazon releases all ten episodes of its The Man in the High Castle adaptation this coming Friday. A ground-breaking blend of alternate history and science fiction, Man in the High Castle was one of forty-four novels that Mr Dick released in his lifetime.
While the judges are still out on Amazon’s new series, it seems unavoidable that at least one other Philip K Dick novel will be adapted to some screen at some point in time, as the highly praised Ubik has yet to be filmed, despite multiple attempts dating as far back as 1974.
How long does it take to watch every episode of The Man in the High Castle?
