Affiliate & Sponsor Disclosure (FTC-Compliant)
Last updated 12 July 2025
Plain-English version: Bingeclock, AreWeTrekYet.com, our email newsletters, PDFs, social-media posts, and any other content we publish sometimes contain affiliate or sponsor links. If you click one of these links and buy something, we may earn a commission—at no extra cost to you. Commissions help keep the lights on and let us keep building tools you (hopefully) love.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Why this notice?
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says that whenever there's a “material connection” between the person recommending a product and the company selling it, that connection must be “clear, conspicuous, and unavoidable” to consumers. That's why you'll see disclosures both here and right next to each paid link.
How to recognise affiliate content on our sites
- Inline notice: We add a short tag—
AD,(affiliate link),(sponsored), or similar immediately before or after every paid link so the relationship is obvious on both desktop and mobile. - Link markup: All paid links include
rel="sponsored"(orrel="affiliate") for extra transparency and SEO clarity. - Display ads / buttons: If an entire graphic is sponsored, we label it “Ad” in a corner of the unit.
Editorial standards
- Independence first: We recommend products because we genuinely think they're useful, not because of commission rates.
- No price change for you: Using our links never alters your purchase price.
- No misleading claims: Endorsements reflect our honest opinions and typical results. If an experience is unusual, we say so.
- Review integrity: When we receive a product for free, early access, or payment beyond normal commissions, we disclose that fact in the same paragraph as the endorsement.
Cookies & tracking
Third-party sites: When you click on affiliate or merchant links, you're taken to a third-party website that operates under its own privacy policy and terms of service. We have no control over these external sites' data practices.
What cookies do and why: Clicking a paid link places a small "cookie" (a text file) on your device. This cookie serves as a digital receipt that tells the merchant you came from our site, allowing them to attribute any purchase to us and pay the appropriate commission. These cookies typically expire after 24-90 days depending on the merchant's program.
Merchant tracking: Third-party merchants (including Amazon, Rakuten network partners, and others) may set additional tracking cookies on their sites to:
- Attribute sales and calculate commissions
- Provide personalized shopping experiences
- Analyze traffic and user behavior on their platforms
- Serve targeted advertisements
Your choices: You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Note that blocking affiliate cookies won't affect your shopping experience but will prevent us from earning commissions on your purchases. For detailed instructions on cookie management and your privacy rights, see our Privacy Policy.
Data collection via affiliate services: Some affiliate networks (like Rakuten) may collect data about your clicks and purchases to improve their services and provide analytics to publishers. This data collection is governed by their respective privacy policies, not ours.
